McPalin = funny

I appreciated the anecdote about the older African-American couple, and I've thought about it several times since. I can see how someone could look at validation of their racial identity and value that over other issues.

I'm holding on to the idea from the Democrat you mentioned - "When the American public sees the mess they make of things we’ll get it back." I think that will be the case.

Good posting, Amy. Bottom line: God is in control. Most of our country's problems stem from our nation's drift away from God, not who our elected officers are. Life goes on, look beyond our disappointment; now we must pray for our leaders (and especially Obama).

Amy
I enjoyed reading your post. I appreciate the transparent honesty that comes through. Personally I think you are making a wise choice to stick with the 3R's for now. In my opinion the Calvert Curriculum is 'too structured' for the first few years of homeschooling.

Enjoy your Natasha!

I love these books I collected for teaching, but the reality is that at this point they are more for my comfort and enjoyment than to apply on my child.

Dear lover of the Scriptures -

I just visited your website and saw a reference to scripture memorization
and the Topical Memory System. This email note is to let you know
about two unique websites that may be new to you. They both use
music as the vehicle to aid in memorization.

Scripture Release is the Topical Memory System in song. It features
the first 24 verses of the TMS sung by Lisa Bevill, Kim Hill and four
other outstanding Nashville artists. The mp3/zip downloads, as well
as numerous helps, are available at no charge.
The URL is: www.scripturerelease.com

Scripture Song Source features music to be used in the church.
Pieces range from congregational to choral to kids. Easy-to-read
sheet music and midi demos are available. Again, there is
no charge for use. Scripture Song Source recently changed its URL.
The new URL is: www.scripturesongsource.com

God grant grace to all of us in these critical days as we seek
to lift up the truth of His word!

Waiting in His wings,

Dave Cook

I suppose you can always tell yourself they were "decorative " plants, just to enjoy looking at, if you weren't able to use them.

Some of these herbs are surprisingly pretty when they mature.

Looks like you had a lot of fun. I can't wait 'til we get moved in a couple weeks so we can start our (container) herb garden for the year. The problem we have is they always grow so well, especailly the basils, that we can never use them all before the first frost and we usually aren't motivated enough to harvest and dry the left overs. Hopefully next year, when we're in our own house, we'll be able to do a full-scale garden and plant more veggies.

Amy, a good source for you to get information about the Suzuki Music System is my friend Brenda. She is a music teacher and has used Suzuki with her own kids. Write her at ...oops, I'll get it later and send it to you.
